About Us

The first official club meeting was held on the third Sunday of June in 1989 a doll shop in Dunwoody, GA. The club was formed with the intention of hosting the Barbie Convention and sharing the love of collecting. The original name of the club was the Atlanta Barbie Collectors (ABC). After Mattel implemented restrictions on the use of the word "Barbie" in club names, the club was renamed and is now known as The Atlanta Doll Collectors. For the 1 year anniversary, the club celebrated at Collectors United sponsored by Gary Green. To celebrate our 20th anniversary and in conjunction with Barbie's 50th anniversary, the club held a birthday party at The Old Spaghetti Factory, complete with gifts for every member in attendance and a cake.
